A social drama inspired by the life of Leo M. Frank, a teacher recently transferred to a small town in the deep South and accused of the murder of one of his students, because he is a Northerner. Immersed in the social realism of the Roosevelt era, the film is a harsh condemnation of racism in American society and institutions.
