Questi temi sono illustrati da estratti di film, trailer, poster e foto, ma anche da stampe antiche, copertine di libri e riviste popolari, da manifesti di circo e di music-hall, da partizioni di canzoni, cartoline, disegni di fumetti e molti altri documenti iconografici.

From goddesses and gorgons to other sirens of ancient mythology, the strangest creatures, at times seductive, at times terrifying, have always tormented our imagination. This documentary reveals their disturbing power over the minds of cineasts and the public, and reawakens an entire world that is unknown or nearly forgotten: the great female icons of horror and wonder in film.
These themes are illustrated with extracts from films, trailers, posters, and photos, but also with old engravings, covers of books and magazines, notices for the circus and for music halls, songs, postcards, drawings from comics, as well as many other iconographic documents.
